Mike Jansen, CEO, Professional Engineer, IIW, PC, Engineers, Architects, Surveyors
Michael received his BS in Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis in 1987 from UWP. He embraced the following advice from one of his UWP professors, Dr. Ken Buttry, “remember we haven’t taught you everything, we’ve taught you how to teach yourself” and expanded his skill set over the past 29 years with professional, business management, and leadership continuing education.
Michael is the CEO of IIW, P.C., a 75-person engineering, architectural and surveying professional consulting firm headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa, with branch offices in Davenport, Iowa and St. Cloud, Minnesota, and satellite offices in Hazel Green, and Appleton, Wisconsin. His duties include leading a management team responsible for strategic planning and implementation, operations planning and execution, firm culture, core values, growth, business development, leadership development, and ownership transition. Michael has volunteered for numerous organizations over the past 20 years, two of which are the UWP Engineering, Math & Science Alumni Board and the UWP Foundation Board of Directors.
He believes his greatest accomplishment is not professional, but rather personal - 30 years of marriage to his wife Paula, four adult children, and two grand-daughters (so far). He firmly believes his family is the motivation behind professional achievement.
