I realize that there are few people in this state that can relate to me when it comes to my passion. That is part of the reason why I love UW-Platteville. I am a very competitive person when it comes to sports although I am a klutz and incapable of playing sports myself. I am a huge Iowa fan! I know, I know…this is not something Wisconsinites want to hear. It’s a love/hate relationship working in Wisconsin.
I was born and raised in Dubuque and my love for Iowa has reached so far that my son’s name is Kinnick. He was named after Nile Kinnick, the first Heisman trophy winner for Iowa. Nile was an honorable person with an amazing Heisman speech. Speaking of Kinnick, he is 4 ½ and started pre K this year. We are hoping that he learns to appreciate everything he learns! As of now, he is sad to go to school instead of being excited like other kids might be.
My husband Tony and I enjoy spending time outdoors. Towards the end of August we traveled to Pelican Lake in Northern Wisconsin. We went fishing, and I caught a perch that was almost eaten by another fish when I was reeling it in! That made my perch not so great looking. I wanted the bigger fish that got away! As we were driving home from Pelican Lake, a mother bear was walking across the highway with her two cubs. We were only 50 yards away. It was an exciting drive home, to say the least!
If you want to chat about football (Go Hawks! Go Bears!), just stop by Human Resources. You’ll know it’s me by the big Hawkeye logo on my cabinet.
