Your Checklist for a Successful Semester
This month kicks off another new semester at UW-Platteville and we’re excited to get started! To help our students prepare for the weeks ahead, we developed this checklist with steps to start your semester off right.
Review the syllabus and course calendar for each course – Identifying important dates and deadlines now can help you schedule your time accordingly. Reviewing the syllabus can also help you clarify the instructor’s expectations for course participation and help you feel comfortable with the material you’ll be working with.
Complete the UW-Platteville Participation Policy activity – Due to increased federal regulations, UW‐Platteville is required to verify that all enrolled students are participating in courses prior to the census date of each semester. The census date will be set each semester by the university, but the way we track participation remains the same; students must complete the discussion titled “UW-Platteville Participation Policy” in each of their courses. If you do not complete the activity, you will be dropped from your course.
Fill out the Student Services Survey – This is your chance to provide feedback on everything from the admissions process to new policies and procedures at UW-Platteville. The results guide decision-making and process improvement efforts in the year ahead, and we appreciate all the honest feedback we receive.
Contact your advisor – Whether your courses are off to a great start or maybe your schedule has changed and you need some advice, it is important to contact your advisor. Our advising team not only has a pool of resources to help you address any challenges you may come across, but are there to cheer on your successes as well. A midterm check-in can help you renew your motivation and get excited for the semester ahead.
