Curt is beginning his 29th year as UW-Platteville’s Intramural Coordinator. Curt is a 1979 graduate of UW-Platteville with a social science comprehensive history major and a coaching minor. While at UW-Platteville he participated on the baseball team, including being selected as an All-Conference second baseman in both 1978, and 1979, MVP in 1978 and Team Captain in 1979. After graduation, he taught history for two years at Monroe High School, while also the head baseball coach and an assistant coach in football. He returned to UW-Platteville in 1982 to work on his master’s degree. While working toward that degree he was the head women’s softball and basketball coach at UW-Platteville. In 1984, with a record of 15 wins and 11 losses, and a second place finish in their division, he was chosen as the WWIAC Women’s Softball Coach of the Year. In 1985 the softball team finished third in the conference, a significant achievement in only the program’s fourth year of existence. Curt also attained his master’s degree in the M.E.P.D. program at UW-Platteville in 1985. From 1987–1991 Curt was the head baseball coach. Under his direction, the baseball team set 28 different school records in those five seasons.
Curt married Robin Thurner on December 21, 1985. They reside in Platteville with their daughters Katie and Kelsey, and their son Kyle. Some of his interests include being an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, stream fishing, coaching, and reading a good mystery novel.
