New CIO selected
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville announced that Tony Hayes has been appointed to serve as the university’s new Chief Information Officer. He will join UW-Platteville on Aug. 7.
Hayes has over 25 years of information technology and telecommunications experience, including almost a decade in higher education. Most recently, he served as the Director of Information Technology at Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute in Roanoke, Virginia. Prior to that, he was the Chief Information Officer at Quincy University, Quincy, Illinois, and has also served as a consultant to Boston College.
He earned his Bachelor of Science from Southwest Missouri State University in 1985, a master’s degree in physics from the University of Kentucky in 1987 and a master’s degree in astrophysics from Iowa State University in 1989.
At UW-Platteville, Hayes will oversee 51 full-time positions in information systems and reporting, ITS administration, Media Technology Services, ITS Support Services, Systems and Infrastructure and Web Development.

I also thank the search-and-screen committee that did an outstanding job in identifying excellent candidates. We believe his leadership positions us well to serve our students, faculty and staff.”
